I always find it funny how music works between America and England. Kings of Leon are from America and have been huge in England for years, but they just are making waves on their fourth album over here. Whereas a band like Muse has been doing very well in their home country of England and just now are doing well over here pending the release of their fifth album. The Australian rock band JET is set to release their third studio album, Shaka Rock. This album was recorded in the USA and in Australia and was co-produced by the band with with Chris 'Frenchie' Smith. The album looks like it has some very good promise. The first single, "She's a Genius," became the number 1 most added rock song in Australia in the first week of its release. It is also the number 1 most added rock song in Canada. In the USA, it also is making good progress in the charts.
JET has sold 4 million albums worldwide. Their...
Pet peeve number 39: having to move my music. Recently I began living in a new location, and I noticed that I had a lot of CDs (just under 400) and moving them was no easy task. However, due to space constraints that is a lot tougher than I anticipated. What is a music geek to do?
I could leave the cases in the hutch and continue to use my CD binder for easy access...
Before Billy Joel played his song “Zanzibar” a few weeks ago, he asked the crowd if we remembered album cuts. You know, that filler on an album between all the singles? Many in the sold-out crowd responded yes, and I thought, Has the iPod killed album cuts? With the technology now for kids to download the singles they want, none of them will ever listen to album cuts. Soon artists won’t even record them; there will be no albums to fill.
The more I thought about it, the sadder I became. True, I buy albums because I love the singles, but...
Creed has come full circle since their break up in 2004 and are now on the brink of releasing their comeback album, which aptly is titled Full Circle. This album title is pregnant with meaning. We know that it's an allusion to what happened to them as a band, what they've learned from their break-up and how they've decided that a reunion was necessary. Full Circle is their return to starting point, their trip there and back, and all that has changed in them and the people who continue to love them.
Comeback albums are especially interesting because they could spell redemption...
