Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging

Now, normally I am more into music done by artists like the XX, who are featured in a recent article, but this soundtrack caught my ear.
My dad brought the British film Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging home a few weeks ago because he thought that my sisters and I would enjoy it. From the director of Bend it like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, this movie is based on the international best-selling series of books by Louise Rennison. It is a coming of age story that involves a lot of drama and fun. I personally thought what made...

Finally, an album has come out this year that I can review. Even though I have a few old ones to finish, I thought I would take a break. Due to the miracle of technology I was able to listen to this album a few days before it comes out. Why? you might ask. Two reasons: because I could and Beck.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is a French actress and the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg. She has a few solo albums, but this one has been making serious waves as of the last few months. She is joined on this album by...

At Grooveshark.com, you can listen to all of your favorite artists for free. I'm not talking about 30 second clips or low quality files; at Grooveshark, you get access to millions of full-length, high quality tunes.
One of my favorite features about Grooveshark is that it allows you to quickly create a playlist. You simply search for the track titles or artists that you like, select the names, and they pop into your playlist. You can drag the songs, conveniently displayed by their album covers, to different spots on the playlist, or you can choose to have them be "shuffled" as they're...

I came across this group while listening to a podcast from NPR. All I had to do was hear the song ‘VCR’ to know that I should check this group out. The xx is a pop trio from England that produces some wonderful music.
There are bits of techno, showgazer, and a little R&B all in a nice pop package. Once again, this is an album that has been out since last summer, and this past week I heard one of their songs on the radio. I’m fascinated how innocent bands like this create music that should be on air,...
Album Review: Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, 2009

If you’ve watched a Cadillac commercial in the last four to five months, you’ve probably heard ‘1901’ thumping along as the latest model spills down the road. Last May when Phoenix was released, this French quartet, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, created a bit of buzz for that single, and it was all I heard on the radio. Truth be told I hated the song at first, but a mix of the commercials and then a compilation with ‘1901’ on it changed my mind a few weeks ago.
The first two tracks, recent single ‘Lisztomania’ and ‘1901’ are wonderful and grab you...
