Spoon, Transference, 1/19/10

by J Frazzetta May 27th, 2010 | Album Review
Like many people, when I heard ‘The Underdog’ in 2007, I picked up Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.  The only previous song by Spoon I knew was ‘I Turn My Camera On’ and not much else.  Since I didn’t know what to expect, I was disappointed with Ga Ga… and eventually sold the album back.  When press for this album began last fall, I kept my ear to the ground and picked up Transference a few weeks after it came out.  To be honest, I forgot to write about it at first, but that could have been a good

Kiss Concert 2010

by Bea May 25th, 2010 | Concert Review
Driving in to go to work Monday through Friday, I always find myself switching the radio stations to find one that is actually playing music. Sometimes I listen to the chatter of the Matty in the Morning show on "Boston's Hit Radio Station--Kiss 108" to hear what they have to say. Talking Heads- ‘Once in a Lifetime’ – You never know where you’ll end up; any chance is one you may never get again.

Flaming Lips- ‘Fight Test’ – “There are

by J Frazzetta May 18th, 2010 | Album Review
In 2008 The Black Keys were slated to work with Ike Turner and Dangermouse on a new album for Turner.  When Turner passed away early that year, the material that was left didn’t go to waste and became Attack and Release.  Last fall the boys got together with a handful of rap stars and created BlacRoc, a true meeting of rap and blues.  Dan Auerbach even put out a solo record showcasing his songwriting talent.  Taking all of that into consideration, you can feel the grooves and maturity on their latest release, Brothers.

Shedding the production value and keeping the gruff

OK Go: May 7th, 2010

by Bea May 13th, 2010 | Concert Review
The lines went down the street and past Fenway Park, as people lined up to see OK Go at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, this past Friday. Of course, those were not the only people lined up near Fenway. With the Red Sox at home and playing the Yankees, there were plenty of people hanging around that day! If you do not know who OK Go are, you may know them for their famous music video for "Here It Goes Again". It is the video that features the band members on treadmills and they do a lot
