There is no better ‘get rich quick’ scheme in the music business than soundtracks. I can understand why people buy soundtracks for musicals; that makes sense to me. However, shelling out money for a movie or TV soundtrack is obscene, which is why I do it rather infrequently.
I hate to admit it, because I’ll lose my street cred, but I did buy the soundtracks for True Blood and Eclipse. I had no plans on endorsing either until I read up that Beck and several other interesting artists were contributing original material. And there is the ploy: original.

Sleigh Bells, Treats, 6/1/10
by J Frazzetta June 24th, 2010 | Album Review
Do not mistake this for a Christmas album. Unless your idea of Christmas album is crashing guitars, distorted hip-hop beats, vocals that range from lullaby sweet to gangsta rap. Oh, and did I mention the distortion? When you put this in your car stereo have the windows rolled down and turn the bass up. If you have your windows closed, don’t turn the volume up. Not that I would do that, just think of that as a kind recommendation. Unlike most two-person bands, Sleigh Bells are different animal to the guitar and drum or synthesizer based groups you may
Sonic Youth, Daydream Nation, 1988
by J Frazzetta June 22nd, 2010 | Album Review
Speaking of distortion, feedback, crashing guitars, punk drumming and catchy riffs, we haven’t even gone beyond track one. Sonic Youth were starting to make a name for themselves in the underground music scene of the 80’s for their distinctive tuning methods and unique sound but Daydream Nation is what broke them to the masses.

INXS, Kick, 1987
by J Frazzetta June 17th, 2010 | Album Review
Go ahead and laugh, and sing that one song everyone knows about needing people in the nighttime. I would not have given this album a chance, until I found out that Beck was covering it. Amassing some of his musical friends for ‘Record Clubs’, they come together and cover entire albums in a day and he shares them on his website. So far he’s covered: Songs of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen, The Velvet Underground and Nico by The Velvet Underground and Nico, OAR by Skip Spence and now we have INXS’s Kick.

Drake
by Bea June 15th, 2010 | Artist Review, Emerging Artists, Hip Hop
In the past few years Drake has become one of the hottest rappers. To tell you the truth, I had no clue who he was until a few weeks ago, but I have been listening to Kiss 108, "Boston's Hit Music Station", recently and they keep telling their listeners all about him.
So, who is he? Born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986, Drake is a Canadian actor and recording artist. Drake had officially signed with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment record label back in June of 2009. He was supposed to release his newest album back in 2009, but
