Adios 2010

by J Frazzetta December 28th, 2010 | Music Opinions
As we sat goodbye to the first year of the new decade it is safe to say that a lot has been going on in the music world.  For starters, after watching Taylor Swift perform on several different awards shows, it is astounding that her albums sell so well and that she sells out stadiums.  Second, infatuation with pop stars has really started to flare up since no one cares about Britney Spears anymore, but do Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have the stamina to become more than just parlor tricks?  Time will tell.

Third, I still have

To Foreign Musicians: Please Don’t Translate Your Songs to English

by Jason Lightner December 23rd, 2010 | Music Opinions
I enjoy me some foreign music, from the Korean pop of Baby V.O.X., to the German metal of Rammstein, to the Bhangra dance of Daler Mehndi, I'd be hard pressed to find a genre of music I don't like. However, there is something that bugs me about some of these artists, and that is their insistence upon translating their lyrics to English and butchering what were otherwise good songs.

All Day by Girl Talk Keeps the Party Going

by Jason Lightner December 16th, 2010 | Album Review, Music Opinions
I've never been a fan of mashups; most of the ones I've heard have been dreadful. Girl Talk is the exception, and his fifth and newest album All Day (released November 15th, 2010) is a surefire knockout. Weighing in at 1 hour 10 minutes, All Day manages to keep the pace and maintain a steady stream of awesome dance music.

Starting off with Ozzy Osbourne's "War Pigs" mixed with Ludacris' "Move B*tch," the album comes out swinging and never slows down. Featuring samples of tracks by M.O.P., Rihanna, Beck, Portishead and hundreds of others, All Day is a

Picks of 2010

by J Frazzetta December 14th, 2010 | Album Review, Music Opinions, Retail Music
With 2010 set to wrap up and the holidays upon us, you probably want to know my favorite albums so you can give them out for gifts, right?  Of course you do, which is why these are my 10 picks from this year with a few honorable mentions.

Arcade FireThe Suburbs: A look at suburban life or a call to arms for the middle class.  This album lived up to all the waiting we endured.

Band of HorsesInfinite Arms: Three is a charm for Benjamin Bridwell.  The surprising hit ‘Laredo’ was the cusp of what this album
