Back in 2002 I was introduced to the alternative metal band, System of a Down and immediately fell in love. I recently found out that they were reforming after taking a long hiatus back in 2006 so I felt it apropos to reflect on them.
System of a Down is an Armenian-American rock outfit from southern California. Before their hiatus, they'd been going at it since 1994--when they were only recording demos. My, how times have changed. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1998 and featured the hit singles "Sugar" and "Spiders." They've released four other
Record Store Day Recap
by J Frazzetta April 26th, 2011 | Music Opinions, Retail Music
For the past four years I have attended Record Store Day and always manage to bring home some gems to add to my collection. This year was no exception and I would like to share with you the treasures of my plunder.

As a matter of fact, he looked more like an accountant and
TV on the Radio, Nine Types of Light, 4/12/11
by J Frazzetta April 19th, 2011 | Album Review
This is the second album by TV on the Radio that I own and I’m considering checking out the rest of their catalog. This eclectic mix of lads could be grouped with the post-rock category of adding extra texture to their music and stretching the limits of their sound. On this new outing we have a different combination of sounds: picture Prince playing his normal grooves with a post-rock edge and some hip-hop for good measure. There are some excellent hooks and beats all over this record, and I’m glad I gave it a listen.

Red Beard, the Drum Pirate
by Jason Lightner April 15th, 2011 | Emerging Artists, Independent Artists, Music Opinions
I have a friend who is an AWESOME drummer. He goes by Joe Red and has been playing drums for the better part of his 26 years. While not a prodigy like Jonah, Joe Red embodies what a rock drummer is to me in every sense.
Not only a friend, but also a coworker at my regular gig, on one October night Red found out an hour before his shift ended that he had to play a Misfits tribute show in two hours. He went home, practiced the setlist (which he'd never played before) and showed up to the
