Headphones have come a long way since 1919, when a company called Brandes first manufactured them for early radio work. The originals had no padding and caused an excessive clamping force on the user's head. Ouch. Today, nice (okay, more than nice) headphones can cost over $1,000. However, you would have to be a real audiophile to make such an investment worth it, and buying a pair would take a great deal of consideration.
Even for those of us who aren't quite obsessed with sound-quality, buying a pair of headphones can cause quite some deliberation. What type of headphones should you
Shure, The Super 55 Deluxe is a Great Pick
by Jason Lightner December 28th, 2011 | Music Opinions
As a person who spends a lot of his time shouting into a microphone, I've learned that when doing so, one gains a certain rapport with his microphone. It's a trust thing, really. I trust that the microphone will help my voice sound its very best, and the microphone trusts I won't spit on it too much in the process.
I've had the ability to sample several microphones in my day. From the industry standard Shure SM58, to the wireless Sennheiser SKM 300-865 G3, to even the Blue Yeti, I've sampled my fair share. My current favorite is the

My resolution for next year is go with my gut. I had read press before, and plenty after, about all three of these albums, yet I waited and picked them up a week ago to see what the fuss was about. When I read enough good things about an album, and if my own research holds water, I should just take a chance on it. You’d think I’d learn by now. Here are three more that should have been added to my original list.

Prior to this event, there had been a bit of static noise in different moments which I'd originally

Diana Krall
by Louise December 21st, 2011 | Artist Review
Diana Krall is a talented jazz pianist and singer, known for her low, honeyed vocals. She is one of my idols. I'm surprised I haven't mentioned her yet.
Krall began playing piano at the age of 4. By the age of 15, she was playing jazz piano in a local restaurant. She attributes most of her music education to her father, who was both a piano player and record collector. She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston on a scholarship, before heading out to Los Angeles, Toronto, and finally New York, in 1990, to play jazz
