American Idols: Where Are They Now?

January 20th, 2012 by Louise | American Idol, Artist Review
American Idol has wrapped up its 10th season. Tenth! I can't believe I started watching that show a decade ago. (No comment on how consistently I've watched it since then.) Some of the past American Idol Winners have gone on to claim much fame. Perhaps the best example is Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the very first season of American Idol. Meanwhile, other names fade away as the years pass. Kris Allen may or may not ring a bell, even though he was the winner of the somewhat more recent Season 8. Where are they now? Let's take a look

Album Review: Up!

January 10th, 2012 by Louise | Album Review, Artist Review
Has anyone else noticed that we haven't heard much from Shania Twain in recent years? The Canadian country pop singer's 1995 album, The Woman In Me, brought her to our attention. Then, in 1997, listeners across the world were captivated by Come On Over, which is currently the best-selling album by a female artist, of all time in any genre. The One

January 6th, 2012 by J Frazzetta | Artist Review, Music Opinions
Happy 2012 kids!  Did you make a resolution?  I did, time will tell if I hold to it or not.

I’ve been reviewing last year’s posts and noticed a theme throughout several of them: I mention the musician Beck quite a lot. Steel Panther Takes Us to Metal School

January 4th, 2012 by Jason Lightner | Artist Review
You know what I like about 80's hair metal? The sheer ridiculousness of it all. The pageantry, the high-pitched wails, the hard-hitting music, the hot pink, the tassels... all of it meld together in what could either be a night at Grand Central, or a night filled with 80's metal nostalgia. Enter: Steel Panther.

I first heard about them about a year ago. They were mentioned in passing by a friend of mine and after a few weeks of procrastinating, I finally got around to checking them out. If you can imagine what it would be like if

Diana Krall

December 21st, 2011 by Louise | Artist Review
Diana Krall is a talented jazz pianist and singer, known for her low, honeyed vocals. She is one of my idols. I'm surprised I haven't mentioned her yet.

Krall began playing piano at the age of 4. By the age of 15, she was playing jazz piano in a local restaurant. She attributes most of her music education to her father, who was both a piano player and record collector. She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston on a scholarship, before heading out to Los Angeles, Toronto, and finally New York, in 1990, to play jazz

Her first album
