Sweat, beer, body odor and sweat. By some strange luck my buddy and I managed to stand dead center at the stage for Mudhoney’s 70+ minute set and by the end of the night I had beer on my pant legs, someone else’s sweat on my shirt and I smelled of worse BO than when I entered. These are all signs that you went to a small club and had a hell of time, Avid Reader, so make note. This show was down and dirty which is true to form of Mudhoney.
Granted, the guys in the band are older
Macklemore @ MIT SpringFest 4/26/2013
by Louise April 30th, 2013 | Concert Review
2013's SpringFest at MIT featured Macklemore and Ryan Lewis as its main act. Unlike those for concerts in many years prior, this year's 3,750 tickets sold out (and in a heartbeat).
Doors opened at 6:30 PM for the 8 PM show, and plenty of faux-fur clad people had lined up early on to claim their standing-room in the front "rows". My friends and I made it inside the venue by around 8:20 PM. The opening act, Ra Ra Riot, was still performing. I thought they put on a good show. Their lead singer, Wes Miles, definitely knows how to use his falsetto. By

Muse, TD Garden, 4/12/13
by J Frazzetta April 18th, 2013 | Concert Review
This show had everything: smoke cannons, laser lights, dubstep and a huge floating pyramid/projection screen. In 2004 when I first encountered Muse live, their stage set up was three guys, a few fans and some spotlights; this was a show and not some small club. The boys had a job to do and in no short amount of time were able to key up the crowd and deliver the goods. Taking songs from their more recent set of albums and piecing them together to form a cohesive set, the night played out with seamless transitions. That doesn’t mean
The Who, Verizon Wireless Arena, 2/24/13
by J Frazzetta March 1st, 2013 | Concert Review
This is an idea of the crowd I was surrounded by Sunday -- here was a phrase I heard all too often: what a great picture; now how do I post it to Facebook? Then there was the message flashing on the screens before the show began: Roger is allergic to smoke and would greatly appreciate it if you would stick to brownies. When you see a band that is a few generations older than you, there is a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek humor to expect, Avid Reader, but then you have the business of rocking. On their second
Compaq Big Band @Nashua Winter Holiday Stroll
by Louise December 11th, 2012 | Concert Review
The 19th annual Winter Holiday Stroll was held as usual on the Saturday following Thanksgiving in Nashua, New Hampshire this year. Main Street was shut down to traffic from 5 PM to 10 PM and around 30,000 holiday strollers, young and old, took to the streets, enjoying free live entertainment from the musicians who dared to brave the weather outside, as well as snacks from the vendors that lined the streets. Ducking indoors for a bit of warmth, strollers found boutiques and restaurants that were open late, as well as special venues that featured more live music.
