Darkness on the Edge of Town
Bruce Springsteen fans are in for a treat because a deluxe reissue of The Boss’ fourth album (released in 1978), Darkness on the Edge of Town, is being cooked up. The album, which made it to the number one slot on the NME Album of the Year in 1978, is considered by many of his die-hard fans as his finest album.  It is expected that the reissue of Darkness on the Edge of Town will have the same makings of the 2005 30th-anniversary box set of Born to Run.  Darkness ”would involve remastering that record, doing the kind of super-creative reconstruction and documentary of how it all came about and finding usable live footage from that point in time. That’s a big one, and not that far from completion, and when we can find six weeks to sit down and finish it I’m sure we will,” Springsteen manager Jon Landau told Billboard.

The reissue of Darkness on the Edge of Town is not the only thing that keeps Springsteen busy these days. The American rock singer-songwriter is also about to release a new album, Working on a Dream (which already earned a five-star review). This new album is hailed as “the richest of the three great rock albums Springsteen has made this decade with the E Street Band.” He’s also got some gigs lined up for him, one of which is for the Super Bowl XLIII halftime show which is set for February 1st and is meant to kick start the promotional blitz of the new album. The Boss is so busy these days that they need to find a six week gap in his schedule so that they would have time “to sit down and finish” the Darkness reissue project.

Darkness includes ten songs, most of which are classics: “Badlands,” “Adam Raised a Cain,” “Something in the Night,” “Candy’s Room,” “Racing in the Street,” “The Promised Land,” “Factory,” “Streets of Fire,” “Prove It All Night” and, of course, “Darkness on the Edge of Town”.
