Sticky and Sweet Again This Summer

The “Queen of Pop” will resume her Sticky and Sweet tour this summer; around 25 shows are being scheduled for the United Kingdom and much of Europe. In support of her eleventh studio album, Hard Candy, the Sticky & Sweet Tour has been seen in the Americas and Europe. This tour already has become the “top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist”. The scheduled summer tour is expected to add much to the already whooping $280 million grossed by the show.
The final leg of the tour will kick off on the 4th of July at the O2 Arena in London followed by a show for Evening News Arena in Manchester (United Kingdom). Sticky & Sweet will then sweep through stadiums in Europe where Madonna hasn’t played yet. This is an unexpected move on the part of Madonna; to add another leg to a tour is unlike her. “It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I’ve been involved with,” Fogel tells Billboard.com. “There has been talk [of extending] during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she’s had a great time and she’s excited about playing new markets.”
Madonna seemed to be really in demand in those areas in Europe that can be considered a fresh market for her. “It’s amazing when you look at the number of markets that she’s never played, including this last run in 2008,” Fogel says. “We went to quite a few markets she has never played or hasn’t been to in 15-plus years. This [extension] is really a continuation of that in the sense of playing new and different markets.”
The summer shows is expected to boost Sticky & Sweet into the top five grossing tours of all time. Even if there were a six month hiatus, the tour will have the same production and performers as in 2008.
