It’s My Disease
by J Frazzetta May 14th, 2013 | Artist Review, Featured Artist
By 2005 Kings of Leon were starting to stir up the critics and small clubs in America. I regret never taking the chance to drive out to Hampton Beach and see them at the Casino Ballroom that fall with a friend but I didn’t get my act together in time. No matter; my chance would come. On the strength of their first two albums the boys were invited on tour to open up for some of music's biggest bands: U2, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket and even Bob Dylan for some arena shows. Dylan even said that one of his
Going Back Down South
by J Frazzetta May 2nd, 2013 | Artist Review, Featured Artist
Three brothers and their cousin decide to form a band playing guitar based blues rock, growing out their beards and sticking to their Southern roots, borrowing a name their grandfather and father had in common. The brothers would follow their preacher father around the south for most of their childhood in the 80’s and 90’s, then by the end of the 90’s would settle in Nashville to start playing music. When their guitar playing cousin joined the band a name was decided upon and in 1999 the Kings of Leon were born.

Macklemore @ MIT SpringFest 4/26/2013
by Louise April 30th, 2013 | Concert Review
2013's SpringFest at MIT featured Macklemore and Ryan Lewis as its main act. Unlike those for concerts in many years prior, this year's 3,750 tickets sold out (and in a heartbeat).
Doors opened at 6:30 PM for the 8 PM show, and plenty of faux-fur clad people had lined up early on to claim their standing-room in the front "rows". My friends and I made it inside the venue by around 8:20 PM. The opening act, Ra Ra Riot, was still performing. I thought they put on a good show. Their lead singer, Wes Miles, definitely knows how to use his falsetto. By

Mudhoney, Vanishing Point, 2013
by J Frazzetta April 29th, 2013 | Album Review
Released earlier this month, the latest album from the veteran Seattle band is short, sweet and full of sarcasm. Yes, it is true that the guys in Mudhoney are nearing middle age since they’ve been in the game for almost 30 years, but this album is proof they show no signs of stopping. Which is a good thing, Avid Reader, because in the landscape of groups that try to fit in with new trends as they happen Mudhoney are happy where they are and always have been.
The album is rife with examples of how they helped set the ground
