It's 2013. Pop punk isn't dead, dubstep still has a place, hip-hop is as strong as ever, rock and metal have continued to evolve, and country music has somehow managed to maintain its grip on the ears of single mothers and lonely truckers across the U.S.
Meanwhile, what is it exactly that I'm listening to? Indie chiptune music by Anamanaguchi, of course.
For the uninitiated, chiptune music is a form of digital composition that uses old electronic audio gear to produce a series of bleeps, boops, and hisses that serve to create music using a variety of tones and notes.
Little Mix, DNA
by Louise May 31st, 2013 | Album Review
Little Mix is a British girl group that formed through X-Factor, a British television music competition. Its four members are Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. All four auditioned as individuals for the show, but after not making it through individually, were offered the opportunity to form and continue as a group. They took part in the eighth season of the show and became not only the first girl group to make it to the final stages of the show, but also the first group to ever win the show. Chris Gordon — The Summer Circuit
by Jason Lightner May 21st, 2013 | Album Review
I've been listening to a lot of self-produced music lately and there's one I'd like to share with you that I feel really deserves some attention due to its delightful sound and artful presentation.
The Summer Circuit is a 9-track offering by Philadelphia's own Chris Gordon, a brilliant young musician who possesses a quiet enthusiasm and passion for the act of audible artistry. Whether it's electronic or acoustic, Gordon has demonstrated a willingness and ability with his music to both entertain and charm.
Released last year, The Summer Circuit draws inspiration from Gordon's life events and a personal struggle. The
